Organometallic enhancement of medical gas sensors

Ultra-sensitive fiber-optic gas sensors may be metal-reinforced by organic compounds.

Covering the frame of short optical fiber of accessories for medical gases by layer of nanoporous metal-organic material significantly improves the absorption of infrared radiation of different gases, increasing the sensitivity of the "parts per million".

Compared with low-cost electrochemical oxide and accessories for medical gases, probes running on the optical absorption more specific, have minimal drift, quick response and a much longer service life. Therefore, they offer significant potential for engineering applications in the monitoring of pollution and environmental protection, early diagnosis of diseases in the form of accessories for medical gases. The absorption spectra of gas molecules appear as narrow lines specific for each gas and hence can be used for their identification and measurement.

In the optical telecommunications industry designed a miniature optic fiber of near infrared radiation (NIR 0.8-2.0μm), which are low cost and have high reliability. This resulted in a significant acceleration of IR sensors.

Hypersensitive infrared fiber optic sensors to detect carbon dioxide fossil skeleton covered with a thin layer of metal. This new class of highly porous crystalline material consisting of metal ions and organic ligands bridge that connected to each other by coordination bonds. This class of materials widely used in the chemical separation, in manufacturing of accessories for medical gases, gas storage, delivery of drugs by the body due to the large surface area and tunable nanostructured cavity.

Built plasmonic nanoparticles increase the IR absorption at 2.7μm. Organometallic coated fiber core absorbs CO2 environment and effectively increase the local CO2 concentration at the surface of the fiber.

WestMedGroup actively cooperates with the Italian company flow-meter ™, having 40 years of experience in the production of components for the accessories for medical gases: valves, pressure regulators, flow meters, terminal blocks.
