Oxygen sensor, or oxygen probe, sensor, lambda sensor

Oxygen - the main method of treatment of respiratory failure and hypoxemia. The source of oxygen can be liquefied oxygen cylinders, constantly replenished and independent producing oxygen generators. Harmful to the organism can be either a lack of oxygen, and its excess in the breathing mix. As side-effect may be burns of respiratory mucosa and lung tissue gap at overpressure. There are ventilatorsensors (responding to an excess of oxygen in the mixture by measuring the residual oxygen output), pulse oximeters and oxygen probesthat react to the blood oxygen. Electronic sensors were developed by Robert Bosch GmbH at the end of 1960. The original oxygen probeconsists of a zirconium base ceramic coating and a thin layer of platinum on the sides.

Oxygen probesare widely used in medicine, chemistry, ecology, engineering, divers, fire protection systems.

The sensors measure the concentration of oxygen is not directly, but by the difference between the oxygen and exhaled air mixture.
