The measurement of the flow rate and mass of substances is widely used both in accounting operations and in the technological processes in various fields of activity. Moreover, the management of many processes in the medical and pharmaceutical fields is based on mixing various components in strictly defined proportions, change of which can lead to situations that threaten health and life.
The most important, life-saving treatment for severe conditions is oxygen therapy. Medical flow meters are used for accurate dosing of a specific gas or gas mixture supplied to a patient from a central medical gas supply system. These devices are connected directly to the quick-connect outlets for medical gases located on medical consoles CADUCEUS or walls using a DIN plug.
For instantaneous flow measurement and dosing of all medical gases, float flow meters are used.
They can be manufactured with or without pressure compensation. So that medical personnel can easily identify the gas mixture supplied to the patient, a needle valve with a color handle corresponding to the type of gas is installed on the float flow meter. For the convenience of users in various modifications, pressure calibration options, various scale options, normal or advanced (L version) are available, providing ease and accuracy of reading flow values. Thanks to the ergonomic design, the device is easy to clean. The dual flowmeter is represented by two independent control units and flow meters. That provides a double and independent gas supply to two patients using a single gas source.
Digital flowmeters with calibrated openings are used to regulate the flow of medical gases. The devices are manufactured with a built-in pressure reducer to stabilize the supplied pressure and with an outlet connection having a thread adapted to various devices. An intuitive flow indicator and the ability to smoothly change oxygen flows, choosing one of ten options, provide the supply of medical gases with increased accuracy. Moreover, they do not need a constant vertical position.
An example of the use of flowmeters is the oxygen therapy procedure, during which it is necessary to warm and moisten the gas inhaled by the patient to at least 32° C and 80% of relative humidity. For such purposes, modern heated oxygen humidifiers can be used, into which oxygen is supplied through a flow meter, rises through a layer of water and is discharged to the patient at the required humidity.
