Respiratory support for newborns is the key to successful nursing of children with various pathologies

Респираторная поддержка новорожденных - залог успешного выхаживания детей с различными патологиями | Respiratory support for newborns is the key to successful nursing of children with various pathologies

In accordance with the Decree of the President "On the Strategy for the Development of Health Care", the reduction of infant mortality is one of the priorities of the health care strategy. The expected results by 2025 are to reduce child mortality to 4.5 per 1,000 births.

Active work in this direction has led to the fact that in 2021, child mortality has reached its historical minimum of 4.4 cases, despite the pandemic and periodic difficulties with oxygen supply to certain regions.

Between 2013 and 2020, the infant mortality rate decreased by 43.6%. This result was achieved, among other things, by opening perinatal centers in the regions and equipping children's multidisciplinary hospitals with modern medical equipment.

At present, the proportion of infants born with various pathologies, as well as those born prematurely, remains quite high. For premature children it is necessary to create special conditions. The chances of a successful outcome are higher when a baby is born in a health facility staffed by trained medical workers and modern medical equipment.

The child is transferred from the delivery room to the intensive care unit or neonatal intensive care unit. A deeply premature baby spends the first days or their life in an incubator, which imitates intrauterine conditions. There, the child is connected to a ventilator, which supply a humidified oxygen.

One of the main functions of the upper respiratory tract is the warming and humidification of the inhaled gases, the removal of dust particles and microorganisms.

The inhaled air of room temperature and humidity, after passing through the nose, enters the trachea with a temperature of about 34 ° C and a relative humidity of 80%, then it finally warms up to 37 ° C and is humidified up to 100%.

With artificial ventilation, inhalation occurs not through the nose, but through the endotracheal or tracheostomy tube, while it is important that the incoming mixture is sufficiently moistened and heated to a temperature close to body temperature. For this, specially designed devices are used - oxygen humidifiers with heating.

In Russia, such equipment is produced on the territory of the SEZ "Dubna", one of the residents - the company "WestMedGroup LLC".

The medical oxygen humidifier with heating unit CADUCEUS heats sterile demineralized water in an individual nebulizer and precisely doses the oxygen-air mixture with a flow meter thanks to the presence of a flow meter. Its own power supply ensures safe contact of the heater with water, and an intuitive control panel monitors current performance.

Currently, effective intensive care and successful nursing of children with various pathologies at birth are among the most difficult medical problems, the solution of which requires adequate drug provision, high professional qualifications of medical and nursing staff, the availability of a high-quality system of perinatal care in all regions of the Russian Federation and equipment medical institutions with high-quality equipment that meets modern standards. The number of saved little patients who will someday do great things depends on this.
