In September 1946, an international meeting of architects was held in London (Great Britain) with the participation of delegates from the Soviet Union. At the meeting, it was decided to establish a new organization, which was called the International Union of Architects (ISA).
In 1985, at a meeting of the International Union of Architects, it was decided to celebrate World Architecture Day on the first Monday of July. 11 years later, in 1996, in Barcelona (Spain), at its twentieth General Assembly, the ISA decided to postpone World Architecture Day to the first Monday of October, on this day World Housing Day is celebrated under the auspices of the United Nations (World Habitat Day).
On this day, architects of the entire planet gather at conferences, symposia and forums where they share their knowledge and experience, solve problems associated with the construction and restoration of buildings and structures, arrange thematic discussions. Very often, various exhibitions and excursions are organized on this day.
